Polishing involves physically rubbing the part to create a smooth, shiny surface.Polishing significantly improves the appearance of the parts. It provides surface finishing for the metal parts and is rarely used for plastics because hardness is the most required property to apply the polishing approach.
It also aids in the prevention of corrosion damage and is used in Automotive, tools, kitchenware, and architectural parts.

Die Cast Industry: Status in 2026 and Trends by Segments
Die-casting is a process of creating metal components by forcing molten material into a reusable mold (called a die), where it fills the cavity and takes the shape upon solidification.

Make the required reflectivity or texture measurable and bounded
Polishing can improve appearance, cleanability or sealing behavior, but it also changes edges and dimensions. Define the polished faces, start condition, target texture or approved visual sample, edge-retention requirement and how the result is inspected.
Engineering data to lock before release
| Surface scope | Faces to polish and boundaries at functional interfaces |
|---|---|
| Target result | Texture parameter, gloss/visual sample or reflectivity need |
| Geometry protection | Edges, engravings, threads and datum features |
| Inspection | Measurement method and cosmetic viewing condition |
If the requirement is visual rather than numerical, retain an approved comparator and state the inspection conditions.
