SURFACE FINISHING
Fine machining
The fine machining can prevent burrs, chips, and highly visible tool markings on the surface, even though it may not be extremely corrosion resistant.

Introduction
The fine machining finish refers to creating the material surface with minimum roughness by controlling various CNC machining parameters such as feed rate and cutting speed with sharper tools.
The fine machining can prevent burrs, chips, and highly visible tool markings on the surface, even though it may not be extremely corrosion resistant. Furthermore, It can be used on practically any material and is especially appropriate for plastics.

Die Cast Industry: Status in 2026 and Trends by Segments
Die-casting is a process of creating metal components by forcing molten material into a reusable mold (called a die), where it fills the cavity and takes the shape upon solidification.

Define which surfaces need the tighter geometric or texture result
Fine machining should be tied to a defined functional surface rather than applied broadly. Identify the datum references, size or form requirement, texture parameter, tool-access constraints and inspection method for the surfaces that justify the operation.
Engineering data to lock before release
| Functional face | Sealing, bearing, locating or optical/cosmetic surface |
|---|---|
| Geometry | Size, flatness, cylindricity, profile or runout control |
| Texture | Parameter, unit and applicable area |
| Inspection | Instrument and datum setup used for acceptance |
A fine finish does not automatically control form; the drawing should state both when both are needed.
