Introduction to PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) plastic is a versatile thermoplastic with a unique combination of Physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. It provides excellent strength, rigidity, fatigue endurance, creep resistance, chemical inertness, and a wide range of working temperatures for the fabricated parts.
PPS’s high machinability and brittleness make it suitable for producing parts with tight tolerance. It also offers excellent electrical insulation and weather resistance properties, which allow for a range of high-temperature electrical applications.

Connect high-temperature polymer selection to a named grade and test basis
PPS is typically chosen for demanding chemical, thermal or dimensional environments. The part definition should state the unfilled or filled grade, service exposure, creep-sensitive features, mating materials and the certificate or test evidence required for release.
Engineering data to lock before release
| Grade condition | PPS grade, reinforcement and product form |
|---|---|
| Service data | Temperature, fluid/chemical and load-duration exposure |
| Geometry risk | Thin features, inserts and differential-stiffness areas |
| Verification | Material evidence, critical dimensions and test plan |
Performance data belongs to the named PPS grade; do not transfer values from a different fill level or supplier formulation.
